Donald Trump is ready to unify the country, y’all, and he’s demonstrating it by eating a taco bowl on Cinco de Mayo and announcing, “I love Hispanics!”
Not surprisingly, Trump’s new multi-culturalism came with a big dose of self-promotion. His Cinco de Mayo tweet just happened to note that “the best taco bowls” are made in a Trump restaurant.

Fortunately, the Twitterverse struck back (h/t Raw Story):
Of course Donald Trump eats taco bowls, the only Mexican food that comes with a wall built around it.

@realDonaldTrump So difficult to say at the same time "I will deport 11M" AND "I love Hispanics". BTW without Latinos there's no White House

It’s hard to believe Hispanics will think that eating a taco bowl (while promoting your own restaurant that made it) somehow undoes Trump’s now-infamous smears of Mexican immigrants:
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
Or how he defended a man who said he was inspired by Trump to beat up a Hispanic man by saying:
“I will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate.”
But even the self-promotion is BS. Vox reports that the Trump Tower Grill doesn’t even serve taco bowls. They were offering them Thursday, as a “taco fiesta.”
Trump has promised,
“We’re going to have great relationships with the Hispanics.”
