Donald Trump’s surprise election has emboldened white supremacists in ways that could never have been predicted.
For example, if you thought that the election was about economic insecurity or the desire to poke at the establishment, you might be surprised to hear this.
There was an effort made, in complete seriousness, to make New Balance Athletic shoes the “official shoes of white people.”
Have you finished laughing yet? Wiped up the coffee that you just snorted out of your nose?
Who do you think it was who proposed this statement of racial dumb*assery?
It was Andrew Anglin, who founded the website the “Daily Stormer” who came up with this laughable idea. If you have never heard of the site, I salute you. It is an exercise in neo-Nazi, white supremacist hatred that would be best ignored, if not for the shenanigans of people like its founder.
The group of crazy bigots wanted to support New Balance after Matt LeBretton, its VP of Affairs, publicly endorsed Trump. The endorsement was given, said, LeBretton, because Trump opposed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
But you see, the problem with voting for Donald Trump is that when you do, no matter what your reasons, you have joined a group that included insane, vicious, lunkheads like Andrew Anglin.
On Saturday, Anglin posted that it was “time to get on board with New Balance.” He was upset with a group of people who objected to LeBretton’s support of Trump and went public about no longer buying the athletic shoes. He said:
“New Balance is making a gesture to support White people and to support US manufacturing. We need to support that. I see New Balances now becoming the official shoes of White people.”
See, no matter what people say about their reasons for supporting the President-elect, they look to the rest of the world like racists. Especially to the racists.
New Balance declined the offer to become the official shoe of white people. They stated that as a company they don’t tolerate any kind of bigotry or hate in any form.
Here is the full statement released by New Balance:

The white supremacists weren’t willing to accept being slapped this way, though. After all, they thought they were dealing with a fellow Nazi.
In an action that can only be described as something Hitler would have done in the sixth grade, the group struck back by insisting that LeBretton had actually written this:
“New Balance endorses bigotry and hate in any form. As a 110-year old company with five factories in the U.S. and thousands of white male employees worldwide – New Balance is a Republican-driven organization and culture that believes in White Supremacy, integrity, community and mutual respect for white males around the world. One of our officials was recently asked to comment on a trade policy and was quoted correctly in context. We have been and will always remain committed to manufacturing in the United States.”
“Don’t let the lying Jewish media get you down.”
Yes, folks. Those who voted for Donald Trump in this election joined a cozy little coven that includes these guys.
Time to be afraid.
