In yet another show of delusional thinking, President Donald Trump told reporters today that he has passed more legislation than any of his predecessors, with the exception of FDR.
During his very first full cabinet meeting, almost six months after being inaugurated, the consistently self deluding President made the following statement to the press:
“There’s never been a president that’s done more in this time. Who’s passed more legislation, who’s done more things than we’ve done.”
Given the fact that the actions of every single President have been thoroughly documented, you might think Trump would be more careful with his lies. But the confident way that he makes these kinds of statements tells us he seems to truly believe the stuff he is making up.

While it’s true that Trump has spent his first few months frantically signing executive orders and passing bills through the Congress controlled by his own party, both FDR and Harry Truman beat him in sheer numbers.
And there’s also the fact that many of the accomplishments he’s bragging about are essentially useless.
Three of Trump’s “bills” appoint people to the Smithsonian’s board of directions. Another one identifies a spot for a military memorial and there are two that name buildings.
A large chunk of Trump’s work has been to undo anything that was accomplished under President Obama. He’s taken away loads of regulations that protected our environment. He’s rolled back education regulations designed to insure high quality teacher training.
Trump has even used one of his “bills” to undo school lunch nutrition rules, because they were part of Michelle Obama’s efforts.
And while Trump uses the word “legislation” in his latest blustering brag fest, none of his actual legislative agenda has even gotten off the ground. He hasn’t gotten anywhere on tax reform and his often promised repeal of Obamacare seems to be bogged down in the marsh of his own party.
So let’s remember, when Donald Trump struts around proclaiming that he has done “more” than any other President, he’s lying again.
Unless, of course, he’s talking about playing golf.
