Former FBI Director James Comey recently made some explosive remarks during his first sit-down interview after being fired by Donald Trump last year, in which the former director compared Trump to a “mob boss.”

A source present during the ABC News taping told Axios that Comey’s highly anticipated “20/20” interview with George Stephanopoulos is guaranteed to “certainly add more meat to the charges swirling around Trump.”

According to the source, Comey “told George things that he’s never said before” and that the special will “shock the President and his team.”

In a teaser clip of the interview, Stephanopoulos asks Comey, “how strange is it for you to sit here and compare the President to a mob boss?”

You may recall that soon after Comey was fired Trump suggested during an NBC interview with Lester Holt that he made his decision in part based on Comey’s handling of the Russian investigation, which Trump allegedly put heavy pressure on Comey to kill.

Trump also reportedly told Russian diplomats afterward that firing Comey, who he allegedly referred to as a “nut job,” eased some pressure he was feeling from the Russian investigation.

During a meeting with the Senate Intelligence committee, Comey stated that Trump personally demanded that he pledge his loyalty to him and drop an investigation into Trump’s now-ex (twice removed) National Security adviser Micheal Flynn. According to Comey, Trump also repeatedly pressured the director to reassure him that he was not under FBI investigation.

“‘I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” Trump reportedly told Comey during a private conversation.

Comey also claimed during his testimony that Trump’s administration defamed his character while struggling to justify his termination.

The ABC interview set to air on Sunday, April 15, 2018, could send shockwaves throughout the administration. The former director is also promoting a new tell-all book titled: “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, & Leadership.”

As you can imagine, Trump will likely respond to the interview with denials and unfounded accusations, all of which Special Counsel Robert Mueller will most likely quietly note and record.

The slow unraveling of this trainwreck administration continues, and it can’t derail soon enough.
