In case you were wondering, the real victim of the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville wasn’t the late Heather Heyer. No, it was President Trump, and he told us so Tuesday evening during a campaign event he held in Phoenix.
Trump began by telling the half-empty arena of brain-dead supporters:
“What happened in Charlottesville strikes at the core of America. I strongly condemned the white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and the K.K.K. They (the media) know it because they were all there. I thought I’d take just a second and do this, because you know where my heart is, to show how damn dishonest these people are.”
Yeah, he condemned the neo-Nazis and other assorted right-wing trash, but he also said there was “hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides, on many sides.”
But the attacks on the media were just beginning, with Trump turning his whining up to full blast and adding:
“And then they say, is he a racist? And then I did a second one. And then I said, racism is evil. Did they report that I said racism was evil? They all say what a bad guy I am. And then you wonder why CNN is doing relatively poorly in the ratings. They put seven people, all anti-Trump, and then they fired Jeffrey Lord! Poor Jeffrey.”
Correction, Donald. Many of us aren’t asking if you’re a racist because we know damn well that you are. You always have been, and your father was even arrested at a KKK rally in New York. You, on the other hand, just hang out with assholes like Steve Bannon who espouse white nationalism and white supremacy, much like the Nazis did.
Then we get to the portion of Trump’s Phoenix rant where he begs the crowd for sympathy, telling them:
“The media can attack me, but where I draw the line is when they attack you, the decency of our supporters. You are honest, hard-working, tax-paying—and you’re over-taxed, but we’re going to get your taxes down—Americans. It’s time to expose the crooked media deceptions and to challenge the media for their role in fomenting divisions. They are trying to take away our history and our heritage.”
Ah yes, it’s Donald the martyr, pretending to fight for the average citizen, even though he’s already screwed every last one of them over on several occasions since taking office.
It’s time to either impeach this madman or invoke the 25th Amendment and get rid of him that way. He’s getting worse by the day.
